Simply, suddenly and completely

on

spring happiness

sometimes
when i awaken to sadness yet untouched
by the gifts of the day
i remember
suddenly, and completely
how patience left an empty house
and i rush
to catch a small shadow
(or two, or many)
so i can lighten them
with a delicate forgiveness

sometimes
when i awaken at the edge of a poem yet untouched
by the gifts of the day
i fall
suddenly, and completely
into a redundant silence
and i rush
to follow a fleeting verse
(or two, or many)
so i can tame them
with my fragile gladness

sometimes,
when i awaken with a dream yet untouched
by the forgettings of the day
i remember
suddenly, and completely
how faith made a crowded house
and i rush
to find a small happiness
(or two, or many)
so i can bless them
with diligent grace

and then sometimes,
i awaken
and i smile
and i love.

simply.
suddenly.
and completely.
