It has to be honest. And real. Everything does.
Because who has time for or can afford anything less in this difficult life?
I had a Christmas post almost composed…some bittersweet, undoubtedly inspirational lament about how hard this year was – a pretty gathering of wisdom coated in syrupy stuff about lessons learned, humility, great achievements and something else equally vague and equally safe.
But I can do better.
My message is simple and inspired by a quote I came across yesterday…“Make following your heart the whole point”.
Yes, in everything.
When you dance and especially when you fall. When you smile and especially when you can not. When you are strong and especially when you are not.
Because ultimately, the only choices we absolutely do have are to be real, to love and to try.
So don’t waste one more second making excuses or faking anything. It doesn’t work.
Just be real.
Forget about having all the answers or resources you think you need (and might be ideal) before you give all you can, in big and small things. So that at the end of the day, you know there isn’t anything you could have done more or better.
Even if it doesn’t seem like much, if it’s truly your everything, that is everything.
Love with all you’ve got…beyond distance, fear, pain, hopelessness, pride and anything else that you or others carry. Put love and a bit of magic in everything you touch with your words, your hands and your whole being. Even a little light makes a big difference.
Make following your heart the whole point.
