tao, the gods and love

i don’t know why suddenly, after such a long time, the girl who used to write in another blog some years ago found me. she showed up in my world for two days now. and settled. as if she never left.

she has grass-stained feet. and sand on her dress. she hums. she doesn’t do the dishes. ever.

she wears a red dress.

“why red?” i asked.

“because the dress is red” she answered.

of course.

she returned with my love of sparkly things, and giggles and something else wonderful. in her words, she remembers the future. in her words, i recover my past.

yes, i have evolved so much since she left, but her finding me again awakened a part of me i thought had died. it doesn’t make me sad, or happy. it makes me whole.

ok, and a little happy.

i will be sharing some of her thoughts – my thoughts – in the next few posts.

here is one – a map of the journey and lessons i had no idea would follow. but she knew.

tao (and red)

red is passion, but also peace. red is adventure, but also rest. red is danger, but also safety and warmth.
red is like blood, and also like the dreams that bring life into the blood. red is struggle, but also pleasure.
red is a color for the gods when they come to dance in the mountains from their blue kingdoms.
and also a perfect color for coats and dresses.

what i have learned:

“Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
She has but doesn’t possess,
acts but doesn’t expect.”

what i need to understand:

“Practice not-doing,
and everything will fall into place.”

…and more to reflect on:

“The Master leads
by emptying people’s minds
and filling their cores,
by weakening their ambition
and toughening their resolve.
He helps people lose everything
they know, everything they desire,
and creates confusion
in those who think that they know.”

“Look, and it can’t be seen.
Listen, and it can’t be heard.
Reach, and it can’t be grasped.

Above, it isn’t bright.
Below, it isn’t dark.
Seamless, unnamable,
it returns to the realm of nothing.
Form that includes all forms,
image without an image,
subtle, beyond all conception.

Approach it and there is no beginning;
follow it and there is no end.
You can’t know it, but you can be it,
at ease in your own life.
Just realize where you come from:
this is the essence of wisdom.”

to which i add…THIS is also love.
